Medicare Part A
Medicare Part A is hospital insurance that helps cover the cost of inpatient care. This includes stays in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities (after a hospital stay), hospice care, and some home health services. Most people don’t pay a monthly premium for Part A if they or their spouse worked and paid Medicare taxes. It’s there to help with big medical expenses, like hospital stays, so you can focus on getting better without worrying about the full cost.
Medicare Part C
Medicare Part C, also called Medicare Advantage. This is a simple way to get all your Medicare benefits in one plan. Instead of using Original Medicare (Parts A and B) directly, you choose a private insurance company to manage your care. These plans include everything Medicare covers, like hospital stays and doctor visits, and often add extra benefits such as prescription drugs, dental, vision, and hearing care. Medicare Advantage plans also offer predictable costs and may include lower premiums or out-of-pocket expenses.
It’s like having a one-stop shop for your healthcare, all designed to make things easier for you.
Medicare Part B
Medicare Part B is medical insurance that helps cover the cost of doctor visits, outpatient care, lab tests, preventive services like flu shots, and even some medical equipment like walkers. It’s designed to help with day-to-day healthcare needs and services that keep you healthy. Most people pay a monthly premium for Part B, and you may have a small copay or coinsurance for some services. It’s a key part of Medicare that makes it easier to afford routine and necessary medical care.
Medicare Part D
Medicare Part D helps cover the cost of prescription medications that your doctor prescribes. You can get this coverage through a stand-alone drug plan or as part of a Medicare Advantage plan. With Part D, you pay a monthly premium and may have copays or coinsurance for your medicines. It’s designed to make your prescriptions more affordable, so you can get the medications you need without the high costs.
Original Medicare
Original Medicare, which includes both Medicare Part A and Part B, is the standard, basic Medicare plan for eligible individuals. For most people, this means starting your coverage at age 65 when you first become eligible. For some, it’s under age 65 due to a disability or End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). For others still, it’s past age 65 due to delayed retirement.
Whatever your situation, you can expect Original Medicare to cover your most essential medical needs.

Medicare Supplement ( Medigap )
Medicare Supplement insurance (also called Medigap) helps pay for some of the healthcare costs that Original Medicare (Parts A and B) doesn’t cover. This includes things like deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. It’s designed to give you more predictable out-of-pocket costs and greater peace of mind when you need medical care. Medigap plans are offered by private insurance companies and can be used with any provider that accepts Medicare. These plans help reduce unexpected expenses, making it easier to budget for your healthcare.
